Sarah Chavez has held various training positions at IU since 2016 and was promoted to the position of director in 2023. She leads the Financial Training & Communications through the development of documentation, mass communications, and training that covers processes involving the Kuali Financial System (KFS), BUY.IU, and Emburse Enterprise.

Another key aspect of her role involves collaborating with subject matter experts across IU Finance and department staff. Subject matter experts know the ins and outs of compliance requirements, while department staff bring the valuable real-world experience of meeting these compliance requirements. Chavez mediates between these two groups and works to find the best solution that ensures IU's compliance requirements are met.
