Indiana University is committed to enhancing the university’s financial strength and empowering each campus to pursue its goals. As part of this effort, IU recognizes the need to review and update its budget model.
IU’s current budget model, Responsibility Center Management (RCM), has been in place for many years. RCM has served IU well. However, the model needs to be updated to meet IU’s new strategic initiatives and foster innovation. The goal of the Budget Redesign Initiative is twofold:
- Review the University Administration (UA) assessment and allocation method.
- Design updated, campus-specific budget models to better support each campus’s strategic priorities, culture, and fiscal needs.
These goals work together to create a modernized, predictable model that increases centralized planning and accountability while incentivizing innovation and collaboration across IU’s campuses.
